Milan and the River Po

It's at least a slight exaggeration to say that the River Po flows through Milan. Milan is in the valley of the Po, but the closest the river gets to the city centre is about 18 miles (30 kilometres). Even Malpensa Airport is on the same side of the river as the city.

In the words of Wikipedia, "Milan is located in the north–western section of the Po Valley, approximately halfway between the river Po to the south and the foothills of the Alps with the great lakes (Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Lake Lugano) to the north, the Ticino river to the west and the Adda to the east."

Turin is more definitively on the Po, even though most of it is on one side (leaving a case to be argued that the river doesn't actually flow through it).
